Strongyloides ransomi infects the gut of wild boars and is pathogenic in suckling piglets. Vertical transmission occurs throughout suckling after which the parasites tunnel into base of small intestinal villi resulting in blood loss, anemia, and diarrhea in piglets. Infection in adults is asymptomatic.
