Congestion is widespread within the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and urinary bladder. Regions of cyanosis or mucosal ulceration may be seen within the skin, tongue, trachea, and larynx. The myocardium may be pale. Rinderpest was eradicated within the wild in 2011 but continues to be an OIE listed notifiable disease.
