Sometimes meant as decorations, keepsakes, or collectibles for older children and adults, most dolls are meant as Toys for kids, often girls, to play with. Dolls have been present in Egyptian tombs which date to as early as 2000 BCE. The oldest and, perhaps commonest construction toy is a set of simple wood blocks, which are sometimes painted in shiny colors and given to infants and toddlers.
