8-Day Whitewater Rafting and Wildlife Safari
For this 8-day trip, you will visit Jinja, Uganda’s second-largest city that is also known as East Africa’s adventure capital. While in Jinja, you’ll indulge in bungee jumping, canoeing, quad biking and whitewater rafting right at the source of the Nile, the world’s longest river.
You will also track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park and game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, which plays host to the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha.

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda – the Pearl of Africa!
When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, an Igeno Safaris guide/driver will pick you up and take you to Laico Lake Victoria Hotel – a mere seven-minute drive from the airport – where you’ll spend the night ahead of your trip to eastern Uganda tomorrow morning.
Time allowing you’ll go on a tour of Entebbe and browse local markets, shop locally, or check out some of this chick colonial town’s favourite eateries and pubs as you mingle with the locals – Africa’s friendliest people.
Journey time: 7 minutes
Day 2: Transfer to Jinja
After breakfast, you will be driven to Jinja, the second-biggest city in Uganda, about 80 kilometres east of Kampala, the country’s capital.
Known as East Africa’s adventure capital, Jinja offers a lot of adrenaline-filled adventure activities such as whitewater rafting, canoeing, quad biking and bungee jumping, among others. You will spend the entire day rafting, beginning right at the source of River Nile, the longest river on earth.
Today’s lunch and dinner will be served at the Nile Resort Hotel, where you’ll also spend the night.
Day 3: Another day rafting
Today, you will spend the entire morning rafting, trying out class II-V rapids, beginning your adventure at Kadogo Camp up to Malulu Camp.
In the afternoon after lunch, you will get the opportunity to explore the White Nile, which is 7 times the volume of the great Zambezi, and also visit the impressive Bujagali Falls for an opportunity to see the dazzling white waters of the River Nile squeezing their way through the rocks!
Later in the evening, you will be driven back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Leave for Kampala
After breakfast in the morning, you will head to the drift site for your final adventure activities in Jinja: bungee jumping, quad biking, as well as kayaking. After you have had lunch in the afternoon, you will be driven to Kampala, where you will dine and spend the night ahead of tomorrow’s journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will be driven eastwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha.
Today’s drive will take you through the verdant western Uganda countryside, traditional homesteads and cultivated farmlands – breathtaking scenery!
You will arrive in the park in the afternoon, and, after having lunch, you’ll go for a game drive on the Mweya Peninsula – a drive that will reward you with sightings of various antelope species, bush pigs, warthogs, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of bird species.
Up to 95 species of mammals, including 5,000 hippos, 3,000 elephants, more than 10,000 cape buffaloes have also been recorded in the park – in addition to 619 bird species. In fact, this is the most significant number of bird species you can find in a single protected area in the whole of eastern Africa!
After the game drive you’ll dine and spend the night at either Simba Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise
After breakfast, you will head out for a game drive in the Ishasha plains whose fig trees are a hideout for lions ready to pounce on herds of unsuspecting prey, especially the Uganda Kobs.
During the game drive, you’ll see some lions perched high on tree branches. Buffalo, topi and the Uganda kob are some of the other animals you’re likely to see during this game drive.
Today’s lunch will be served at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, on your way out of the park. After lunch, you will head out for a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward, an area that will reward you with sightings of various animals.
The boat cruise will offer you great photo opportunities, game viewing, and birdwatching.
After the boat ride, you will visit the beautiful Crater Lakes Region and later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to Kibale Forest National Park, where you will have lunch either at Ndali Lodge or the Primates Lodge.
In the afternoon, you will go for a nature walk and chimp tracking, an excursion that will reward you with encounters of various primates, such as the chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, colobus, baboons, grey-cheeked mangabeys, otter mongoose, sitatunga, bushbucks, bush pigs and civet cats.
If you’re a fan of birdwatching, you will have an opportunity to see some of the 200 species of birds that are resident in the park, including the most sought-after Great Blue Turaco.
You will dine and sleep at Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge.
Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe and departure
In the morning after breakfast, you will be driven back to Entebbe to catch your flight back home, marking the end of your memorable trip with Igeno Safaris.
